Production Notes for After Her Smile:
1. Filming & Editing:
The narrative coherence was achieved primarily through extensive use of B-roll footage. The majority of the filming took place in Southern Ontario, Canada. Notably, two unique shots were captured in Dearborn and Frankenmuth, Michigan.
2. Challenges with the Motorcycle Scene:
Shooting the motorcycle sequence proved particularly challenging, necessitating two cancellations. Initially, the chosen actor for the Biker role withdrew just 15 minutes before the scheduled shoot. Our second attempt faced an untimely setback due to unexpected rain on a December evening in Toronto.
3. Serendipity & The Barn Scene:
Sometimes, fortune plays a bigger role than meticulous planning. The picturesque location for our barn scene was serendipitously discovered merely 20 minutes before the call sheet’s last-minute distribution. This stroke of luck came after an unplanned 90-minute drive (guerrilla scouting) on the very morning of the scheduled night shoot.
